West Ham United: England decision revealed for Jarrod Bowen and James Ward-Prowse – David Ornstein
West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen has been called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad, while Jame Ward-Prowse misses out, according to David Ornstein.
Taking to X (5 October), he revealed that Bowen will be in contention to earn his fifth cap for England, with the Three Lions set to face Italy in a Euro 2024 qualifier and Australia in a friendly.
Ward-Prowse, despite two goals and five assists in all competitions his season, missed out again with his last cap coming in 2022.
Deserved and disappointed
Bowen, with five goals in the Premier League this season, has thoroughly deserved his call-up. Arsenal have suffered an injury set back with Bukayo Saka, which most likely left a spot open for the Hammers’ maestro.
The 26-year-old has come into his own in the early stages of the season and has given Irons fans plenty of memorable moments already, notably his exquisite finish against Brighton.
He has also earned himself a nomination for Premier League Player of the Month for September, proving that he has been a driving force in much of the club’s success this season.

James Ward-Prowse just can’t seem to catch an international break. He has found himself in and out of Southgate’s squads for a number of years, earning 11 appearances since 2017 and has never made the squad for a major tournament.
The signs of international acclaim are dwindling for the free-kick specialist, which is odd considering his fantastic start to life at West Ham and his varied talent.
Seemingly, Southgate just doesn’t fancy him, which is a great source of frustration for many West Ham fans. However, Bowen has the chance to really announce himself to the boss and prove that he has the ability to be a squad regular.
In other West Ham news, a Sky Sports journalist has mooted an international call-up for one “sensational” Hammers player.
