West Ham United: Don Hutchison shares new David Moyes verdict after loss v Newcastle

Don Hutchison has told the West Ham fans he is going to have to agree to disagree with them after David Moyes was criticised following the defeat against Newcastle United on Saturday (30 March).

Writing on his Twitter page on Saturday, the pundit pointed out how the Hammers supporters were shouting “ole” when their side were 3-1 up before the Magpies dramatically turned the game on its head to secure a 4-3 victory.

He added that if the Scotsman gets the Irons into Europe for the fourth season in a row, he will go down as one of the most successful managers in the club’s history.

“I think West Ham fans, we are going to have to agree to disagree,” said Hutchison. “At one point today the travelling fans were ole’in at 3-1 up.

“If David Moyes gets West Ham into Europe four years on the spin, he will be one of the most successful managers in the club’s history in my opinion.”

David Moyes isn’t free from criticism amid West Ham capitulation

It’s pretty frustrating to constantly hear people in the media being critical of the West Ham fans for questioning Moyes’s role in some of our performances.

There is no doubt that he is one of the most successful managers in our history, no one is really questioning that as his record in recent years speaks for itself.

But his decision to take off Michail Antonio for Kalvin Phillips when we were 3-1 up against Newcastle is what, ultimately, cost us the game.

The Scotsman also didn’t come and applaud the travelling fans at the end of the match despite many of us travelling hours to support the team. The respect has to go both ways.

It’s things like this that have also turned many against him over the past few months because it doesn’t take much to thank the supporters for spending their hard-earned cash to cheer on the team, particularly when it was his error that saw us leave empty-handed.
