West Ham United do not want Rafael Benitez if David Moyes is sacked
West Ham do not want Rafael Benitez if they decide to sack David Moyes, amid various reports linking the Spaniard with the Hammers job, according to Claret & Hugh.
While Moyes is expected to be in charge against Nottingham Forest this weekend, former Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle manager Benitez, 62, is “on standby and wants the job”, according to reports [Daily Mail, 20 February].
However, according to trusted Hammers source Claret & Hugh [22 February], despite several links involving Benitez and former Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa, the East Londoners want neither if they sack Moyes.

The report goes on to claim that “no Premier League experienced managers are available and that remains the West Ham board’s problem.”
Change needed
Whilst Moyes has undergone a tremendous transformation in East London in previous years, taking them to two top-eight Premier League finishes and a Europa League semi-final, it seems as if his time as Hammers boss is coming to an abrupt close.
West Ham have endured a torrid Premier League campaign so far, currently sitting the relegation zone following their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

There have been several calls for Moyes’ head in recent months, and those views are totally understandable especially considering the amount of money spent last summer.
The former Everton boss has simply failed to build on their previous success as well as incorporate new players who were supposed to add quality and firepower to the squad.
Also, many can argue Moyes has not evolved his style at the club, continuing to stick to his reserved and cautious approach which has served him well in previous campaigns. If results continue as they are in the coming weeks, it’s incredibly difficult to see Moyes still in a job.
