West Ham United desperate to keep Harrison Ashby in Newcastle transfer news
West Ham United are “desperate” to keep hold of defender Harrison Ashby during the January transfer window amid growing interest from Newcastle, according to Ben Jacobs.
The Hammers have reportedly been unwilling to offer the 21-year-old the wages he wants at the London Stadium, and Eddie Howe’s side are waiting in the wings, ready to snap up the youngster if talks break down. [ExWHUemployee]
The right-back has struggled to cement a spot in the first-team squad under David Moyes and is yet to feature in the Premier League this season.

However, despite this rumoured disagreement, CBS Journalist Jacobs stated that West Ham are still extremely keen to keep the youngster at the London Stadium.
He Tweeted: “Be a real sign of ambition if Newcastle United land Harrison Ashby. West Ham desperately want to keep him. One to watch in January.”
Transfer still likely
After spending 12 years in East London with West Ham, Ashby clearly believes he should be given the chance of more first-team minutes.
Despite his undoubted talent, wanting a contract with similar wages to a first-team regular is a little presumptive considering the lack of impact he has had under David Moyes in recent times.
The Scot won’t want somebody in his team who doesn’t want to be there, and Ashby has done little to further his claims for a regular starting spot in the team.
With Vladimir Coufal likely to move away from the club in the January window or the summer, a spot at right-back is waiting for Ashby to claim with both hands, but for some reason or another, it has not happened.
West Ham United may want to keep the youngster at the club, but the breakdown in contract talks is surely the final nail in the coffin.
