West Ham United: Declan Rice transfer talk will happen in the summer – Dharmesh Sheth

Transfer talk will surround West Ham United captain Declan Rice and his future with the club at the end of the Premier League season, according to Dharmesh Sheth

The midfielder has just 18 months remaining of his contract in east London, and following a brilliant World Cup campaign with England, his future has been brought into further doubt.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Sky Sports reporter Sheth hinted that talks about his future at West Ham will take place at the end of the season.

He said: “I think there will be talk of that [Rice leaving next summer]. I’m sure he sees – and he’s even said it in a news conference – that he sees his England teammates playing in Champions League football week in week out.

“Yet he, a player of his ability is currently in the Europa Conference League, which won’t be lost on him.”

Concentrate on the football

Rice will inevitably leave West Ham United in the near future, but fans should just enjoy what he can deliver on the pitch for the remainder of the season.

Week in and week out, the 23-year-old gives his all for David Moyes, and he is a figurehead that other players should look up to both on the pitch and in the dressing room.

Sitting in front of the back four, he is the springboard for every West Ham attack, and his surging runs from deep so often get them on the front foot.

The Scot will need his talisman to step up in the coming months after a poor run of form has left the Hammers languishing just a point above the relegation zone.

Often when discussing the West Ham captain, we discuss his actions off the pitch, but fans should enjoy Rice while he’s still delivering his trade at the London Stadium.
