West Ham United: David Moyes in disbelief at what he saw away from London Stadium
David Moyes was left in disbelief after West Ham fell to a 4-3 defeat at Newcastle on March 30, according to The Athletic.
The Hammers boss was bewildered by his side’s late collapse, having surrendered a 3-1 lead to lose despite being on top going into the final 15 minutes of the game.
However, West Ham rallied in their next game against Tottenham, scoring an early equaliser through captain Kurt Zouma and holding out for a 1-1 draw which keeps them seventh in the Premier League.
Speaking to The Athletic post-match, Moyes said: “After the loss against Newcastle, we were all disappointed — I still feel disappointed — but we were determined to bounce back.”
London Stadium draw reignites European hopes at West Ham
After conceding three goals in the final 13 minutes at St. James’ Park, West Ham’s next game couldn’t have started much worse as Brennan Johnson scored the opener for Spurs just five minutes into the match.

However, Zouma’s header from a Jarrod Bowen corner drew the Irons level within 15 minutes, with West Ham well worth their eventual point and even missing a glorious chance to win the game through Michail Antonio.
Moyes’ side have faltered often lately – winning just two Premier League matches in 2024 – but have a knack of staying in games until the very last, securing 16 points from losing positions so far this season.
That’s the fourth-highest of any Premier League team, and as West Ham’s domestic and European campaigns approach the final straights, Moyes will be keen to prove that their Newcastle collapse was just a blip.
In other West Ham news, The Athletic discussed the impact of Kurt Zouma’s pre-match message to his team-mates as the Frenchman equalised against Tottenham.
