West Ham United Danny Ings update emerges ahead of Premier League showdown v Nottingham Forest

Danny Ings is in line to start for West Ham United against Nottingham Forest as David Moyes looks to his January signing to save his job at the London Stadium, according to the Daily Mail.

ExWHUemployee claimed (21 February) the Scot is under serious pressure from the board with the Hammers currently in the bottom three.

Saturday’s fixture against Steve Cooper’s side is looking like a must-win for the West Ham boss, and the Mail has revealed Ings is in line to make his first start.

“Insiders say Ings, a £15million signing from Aston Villa in January, has been declared fit enough to start,” they wrote (22 February).

“Moyes usually tells the squad his starting XI in a meeting the day before the game, but Ings is part of the coaching staff’s plans, sources told Sportsmail. Gianluca Scamacca is also back in training, though the £35.5m summer signing is still building his fitness.”

Do or die

Goals have been a real issue for West Ham and Sunday’s defeat to Tottenham was yet another example of Moyes’ side being limp in an attacking sense. Gianluca Scamacca’s injury problems have been a problem and the Irons’ other attacking options have been short of form.

Having Ings back in contention is a big boost and could well be the difference for the Hammers’ underfire boss. Saturday’s clash at the London Stadium promises to be a tense affair which could be decided by the finest of margins. Ings is one of the Premier League’s most clinical finishers and if given a sniff, he will put the ball in the back of the net.

The West Ham boss may well be pinning all his hopes on one player but what else can he do in this situation? Nothing else has worked for Moyes of late and he desperately needs a positive result to save his job. This weekend’s fixture promises to be season-defining for West Ham in one way or another.
