West Ham United could still sign 'keen' Arnaut Danjuma this summer

West Ham United have not given up in their pursuit of Arnaut Danjuma and it is still possible he plays for the Irons next season, according to Alex Crook.

The Dutch international had supposedly been the subject of a bid from the Hammers but 90min reported on Thursday (30 June) that the approach had been withdrawn and that focus would turn elsewhere at the London Stadium.

But Crook, a reporter for talkSPORT, believes that the 25-year-old is still yearning for a move back to the Premier League after he joined Villareal from Bournemouth.

“Danjuma is a really interesting character because he’s got the talent, but sometimes his temperament has been called into question.,”Crook said to Give Me Sport.

“I think he feels he’s got a point to prove in the Premier League because he missed most of the one season he had there with Bournemouth due to injury. I think if he was fit, maybe they wouldn’t have got relegated.

“I think he’s keen to come back and West Ham is a very possible destination for him.”

If Danjuma is going o cost a fortune as you would expect, then we would be best to leave this transfer well alone and target other, more important areas to strengthen in.

We’ve needed a proper striker for more than a year now but no such moves have been made and even though Danjuma can play up front, his situation is similar to Jarrod Bowen’s that he’d rather be a winger than a number nine.

Add to that the need for another full-back and central midfield cover and we have more than enough to be worrying about without adding the stress of a winger into the equation.

With so much business needing to be done, we can’t afford to be wasting time and resources on unnecessary and expensive purchases like this if we want to have any chance of emulating the success we have enjoyed over the past couple of seasons.
