West Ham United could make January move for Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi
West Ham United could return to Sassuolo in January to try and sign midfielder Davide Frattesi after failing in the summer, according to Tutto Mercato Web.
The Hammers had the 23-year-old on their radar over the summer as they looked to overhaul the squad but they opted against pursuing a move intently with Flynn Downes the preferred choice in midfield.
But David Moyes has not given up on the Italian international and could now be prepared to head back to the Mapei Stadium for a second purchase in as many windows after bringing Gianluca Scamacca to the London Stadium from the same club.

Frattesi has played all seven of Sassuolo’s Serie A games so far this season, scoring twice while having also made four appearances for the national team since his debut in June.
West Ham are not alone in admiring the 23-year-old though with Brighton’s new manager Roberto De Zerbi also having him high on his agenda when the January window opens.
Price dependent
Frattesi is a very good player and someone who could improve Moyes’ squad as it is right now but that doesn’t mean that the Irons should be looking to splash the cash by any means necessary.
They might have to be rather frugal with their cash this winter having splashed an enormous £170million on signings this summer to try and take the club to the next level.

That hasn’t quite worked out just yet with the Hammers in the relegation zone after seven matches but the answer to the current problems is not to spend even more money.
If Frattesi can be brought in for a relatively cheap fee, or a big sale is made in January, then it should be a move that they seriously consider making to add some much-needed legs to the middle of the park.
Moyes has more pressing concerns on his plate at the moment though and has to focus on those rather than the transfer window in three months’ time.
