West Ham United could look to free agent Jason Denayer to bolster defence
West Ham United could reignite their interest in free agent Jason Denayer if David Moyes wishes to add another defender to his ranks at the London Stadium.
ExWHUemployee revealed via his Patreon on Tuesday 9 August that the Hammers had been offered the chance to sign the 27-year-old after his release from Lyon over the summer.
The Hammers were looking to bring another defender to the club on deadline day, particularly if Craig Dawson sealed his London Stadium exit.
Dawson’s deadline day move to Wolves didn’t quite materialise, with the veteran defender seemingly unhappy at the club.
Wolves have also shown an interest in Denayer, with The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano revealing (via Twitter, 1 September) that Bruno Lage is potentially keen to add the Belgium international to his ranks.
With Dawson playing a bit-part role this season, it could make sense for Moyes to look into a move for Denayer to provide slightly more cover defensively.

He’s an experienced player, who can operate in a number of positions including the centre of midfield, which is also a problem area for Moyes at the moment.
Overall the West Ham boss will be happy with the transfer business that he has overseen this summer with plenty of large transfer fees paid by the Hammers.
The Irons have added real quality to their ranks and when everything clicks, it would be no surprise to see the club rise sharply up the Premier League table.
Hammers fans will be absolutely delighted with the ongoings at the London Stadium this summer.
