West Ham United cool interest in Sao Paulo defender Luizao

West Ham have cooled their interest in Sao Paulo defender Luizao, according to a report from Jovem Pam.

The 20-year-old defender was linked with a move to the Hammers during the summer transfer window, but it seems they are no longer interested in him.

The young defender is now expected to receive an offer from Olympiacos. His current contract ends in January, which makes him a cheap option.

Moving on

According to respected journalist Jorge Nicola, the Hammers rejected the chance to sign him during the summer transfer window.

The Hammers actually made a careful evaluation and dropped their plans to sign him, which was a good decision.

The club signed Thilo Kehrer and Nayef Aguerd instead, although the latter is yet to feature after going under the knife this summer.

Do West Ham need another defender?

Yes. Angelo Ogbonna is approaching the fag end of his career and this could be his last season at the club.

Likewise, there is uncertainty about Craig Dawson’s future as well. The veteran defender has been excellent for the Hammers, but he wants to stay close to his family.

Dawson was linked with a move away from the Hammers during the summer transfer window, but Moyes prevented him from leaving. If he leaves, there could be an opening for a new arrival.
