West Ham United consider summer move for Eric Bailly

West Ham are considering a summer move for Manchester United defender Eric Bailly, as per ExWHUemployee.

The reliable Hammers source wrote on his Patreon on 6 August that the Ivory Coast defender is available on the market, for a reasonable fee of around £8 million.

The 28-year-old is not wanted at Old Trafford, and he could be available for loan as well. It appears that he is on his way to link up with Jose Mourinho at AS Roma.

However, if the Giallorossi fail to sign him, the Red Devils are expected to make a move for him.

Need for a defender

David Moyes has stressed the need to sign quality players to his squad, and he is looking to add further depth at the back.

The injury to Nayef Aguerd has disrupted his plans completely, and the Hammers are now being forced to delve into the market, with Issa Diop’s future still up in the air.

Angelo Ogbonna is still working his way to getting himself fully fit, but it could take months for him to return to action.

Craig Dawson is 32, and he is not getting any younger. On top of that, he has only a year remaining on his present deal. So definitely, the club is looking at long-term plans.

Bailly is an experienced defender. He has made over 110 appearances for the Red Devils since joining the club in 2016, and he would be a smart signing for the club.

He has dropped down the pecking order at the club, and a move away from Old Trafford looks likely. Having said that, the Hammers may need to act quickly if they are seriously looking to get him on board.
