West Ham United close in on Alphonse Areola transfer with five year contract on table – Sky Sports

West Ham United are now closing in on the permanent signing of Alphonse Areola, according to Sky Sports.

It is reported that the Irons are now “increasingly confident” with the £11million option after last season’s loan now available to trigger at the London Stadium.

The Irons are said to be working on personal terms with the Frenchman with a long-term five-year contract on the table for him to sign once happy.

Writing on their live transfer blog [21 June, 11:33 am], Sky Sports shared the latest with another new transfer seemingly close at the London Stadium.

“West Ham are increasingly confident they can close a deal for PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola,” they wrote.

“The club continue to work on terms over a five-year contract with Areola.

“Once agreed, West Ham will trigger the £11m option they hold.”

Another One.

West Ham are really planning on making this a summer to remember.

With Nayef Aguerd already through the door on a five-year deal, the Irons are pushing to make sure that another permanent long-term contract is on the table for Areola.

This one should be much easier to complete given his loan spell at the club last season where he settled fantastically alongside Lukasz Fabianski in the goalkeeping department.

One small issue is the huge wages he currently holds at Paris Saint-Germain, although that should be ironed out soon if he really wants to stay in London.

Dharmesh Sheth reported last week [17 June] that personal terms were still being finalised, so the Irons must have made some progress over the weekend.

Hopefully, this one can be sorted imminently and we can move on to much bigger targets that are currently needed to improve the West Ham United squad this summer.
