West Ham United: Bayern Munich prepare Declan Rice bid as 'positive' talks held

Declan Rice could imagine a move to Bayern Munich after the Bundesliga club held more talks with the West Ham captain, according to Sky Sports journalist, Florian Plettenberg.

It’s believed Bayern Munich are now preparing an official offer after holding “positive” talks with the 24-year-old in London (Plettenberg, personal Twitter, 2 June).

Thomas Tuchel is understood to be the driving force behind the move for the England international and Bayern bosses have been discussing Rice over the last couple of days.

Interesting

At present, it’s anyone’s guess as to where Rice will end up. The England midfielder has been hot property for the last three transfer windows. Arsenal have been a long-term admirer, as have Chelsea.

The interest from Bayern Munich has come out of nowhere. Tuchel is clearly a massive fan and most West Ham fans would welcome the German champions making a move for their talisman. They would likely pay the Hammers valuation and it would mean Rice wouldn’t return to the London Stadium in another team’s jersey.

He’s been a remarkable servant for the Hammers and is thoroughly deserving of the chance to go and play at the highest level he possibly can. He’s played in some of the biggest matches possible at international level. The World Cup quarter-final and European Championship final immediately spring to mind.

It’s now time for Rice to go and test himself in the Champions League. It’s where the best players in Europe showcase their ability and it does feel like he’s being held back at the London Stadium.

The 24-year-old will be desperate to end his West Ham career with a piece of silverware.
