Michail Antonio ready to quit West Ham United as Wolves transfer news emerges

Michail Antonio is ready to quit West Ham United as interest from Premier League rivals Wolves emerges, according to TalkSport journalist Alex Crook.

The forward has become second-fiddle to the Hammers new star signing Gianluca Scamacca for the majority of this campaign and may now be looking for a way out of the club.

Crook revealed that he has been “told” that Antonio would be open to a move away from the London Stadium and is looking for a new challenge.

West Ham

“Possibly, I don’t think there is a massive desire from West Ham United to move him on,” said Crooks in response to TalkSport host Laura Woods asking about Antonio’s situation (11 January).

“It would be subject to them bringing in another striker, we know like Youssef En-Nesyri the Moroccan international and a younger player also at Lorient’s Terem Moffi, those are very much on West Ham’s radar.

“But I’m told the player himself is very much open to a new challenge, his contract is due to expire at the end of the season, but he’s got a year’s option at the end of that, so he’s effectively the last 18 months of his deal, and Wolves would be keen if he was made available.”

Over and out.

It seems like Antonio isn’t the only player considering an exit from the Hammers at the moment with multiple talents being mooted to leave the club.

Football Insider reported on 28 October that Craig Dawson wants to leave the club in January to be closer to his family who lives in Cheshire.

The Guardian also reported on 1 December that Declan Rice has indicated that he wants to leave West Ham United after the maestro revealed his ambitions to play in the UEFA Champions League.

This is slightly worrying from a West Ham United viewpoint and begs the question of why all these players are wanting to leave the team.

For now, all three players remain in the Claret and Blue shirt but with the January transfer window open for a little while longer, a lot can change in the coming weeks.

With luck, the Irons can hang onto Antonio in January, it would be a foolish mistake to let him move to a side battling the club a relegation scrap.
