West Ham United an 'absolute certainty' against Crystal Palace - Paul Merson

David Moyes will want to refind the form that West Ham showed prior to being beaten by Manchester United against Crystal Palace.

The Hammers were beaten by a bullet Marcus Rashford header at Old Trafford last Sunday (30 October) but will be back on home turf a week later (6 November).

Patrick Vieira’s Eagles are a very difficult team to predict with their performances either brilliant or ordinary but Paul Merson thinks a Hammers win is in the bag.

“I don’t think Crystal Palace are going to win an away game in the Premier League,” Merson said to Sportskeeda. “They keep putting the same team out, and they won’t win away from home.

“They’ve got too many individuals. At home, it’s perfect, and they’d give anybody in the Premier League a game. Away from home, I just don’t see it.

“I’m backing West Ham all day long this weekend – it’s an absolute certainty. They were unlucky at Old Trafford last week, and they should be able to win this game. West Ham 2-0 Crystal Palace.”

Overconfident

It’s great to see Merson so bullish about the chances of a West Ham victory against Crystal Palace but these teams are much closer matched than he believes.

Sure, Palace have had their struggles on the road this season but it only takes one glance at the attacking talent and the unpredictability it brings to worry even the most optimistic of supporters.

Wilfried Zaha obviously leads the way but Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze can both produce that match-winning moment of quality and Moyes has to be wary of them all.

But the Irons came close against United and also away at Liverpool previously and it is surely only a matter of time now before they all click at once and truly blow a team away.

Vieira won’t want to allow that to happen on Sunday but the sheer power of a fresh West Ham side could be too much to handle.
