West Ham United advance to seal Jota transfer after new update from London Stadium

West Ham are now advancing to seal the January signing of Jota from Saudi Pro League outlet Al Ittihad, according to Alex Crook.

The talkSPORT journalist reported via X [29 January] that the Hammers are closing in on a deal to sign the Portuguese winger from Al Ittihad ahead of the closing of the January transfer window on 1 February.

This follows the report, as per Santi Aouna, that the winger himself has already agreed on terms over a loan move to the London Stadium this week.

It is understood that the player is waiting for the green light to travel to the UK for his medicals.

Nailed-on transfer target

Following the falling through of West Ham’s quest to sign Ibrahim Osman from Nordsjaelland, this is exactly the news that David Moyes and Hammers fans have needed.

Considering recent issues with Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus, Moyes has been calling out for attacking reinforcements to replace the likes of Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma.

The 24-year-old is a proven talent, having recorded 28 goals and 26 assists in his time with Celtic before moving to Saudi Arabia. His move abroad has not worked out, however, spending his time in exile after being left out of the side’s league squad since September.

The young winger is an exciting prospect, one that will help maintain a steady flow in the West Ham attack, making it easier for Moyes to rest his star players. His ability to play on either flank will come as a huge positive at London Stadium, with the forwards tending to switch positions throughout a match.
