West Ham ace closing in on full-fitness, hopeful of featuring v Wolves – report
West Ham United defender Angelo Ogbonna is closing in on full fitness at the club’s training ground, according to Claret and Hugh.
It is suggested that although the Italian has been pictured in training with the club, he still hasn’t returned to the peak of his fitness.
Claret and Hugh report that the Hammers are hopeful that Ogbonna will be able to feature against Wolves once the Premier League returns.
West Ham are set to face Wolves on Friday the 18th of June, with Arron Cresswell and Michail Antonio also expected to be available.
There is no doubting that the Hammers are stronger with those three players available, with Cresswell and Antonio being two of the shining lights this season.
David Moyes will be wanting his side to win their home games once the season starts again, and with no fans behind them, it could be a less hostile environment.
Ogbonna hasn’t exactly stood out defensively, despite being Moyes’ most-used central defender this season making 24 appearances in the Premier League.
The Italian has only completed 1.3 tackles per game according to WhoScored, with players such as Felipe Anderson making more despite playing out wide.
Ogbonna has been given a second chance to impress this season, with this injury likely to have put an end to his season should there have been no break enforced, and he needs to take it.
