Mike Parry slams Declan Rice after what he did in West Ham United loss v Arsenal
Mike Parry has questioned why Declan Rice opted not to celebrate after scoring for Arsenal in their emphatic win over West Ham.
Rice struck the sixth goal for Arsenal in their 6-0 victory at London Stadium in Sunday’s (11 February) Premier League contest, as shared by Sky Sports on Twitter.
The England international, who swapped clubs last summer, made a point of not celebrating the goal in front of the West Ham fans.
However, GB News broadcaster and Everton shareholder Parry has called out Rice for doing so.
“Re: Declan Rice: This is @WayneRooney celebrating scoring for Man Utd against @Everton at Goodison Park,” Parry tweeted [11 February].
“He joined Everton when he was 9 and all his family are Evertonians. He went to @ManUtd.
“When asked why he’d celebrated his goal he said: “Because I play for Manchester United”.”
Mixed reception for Declan Rice on West Ham return
Rice had a mixed reception on his second return to London Stadium, as was the case earlier in the campaign, with some deciding to boo him, some cheering and others just remaining neutral.
The goal the former Hammers favourite scored was an absolute screamer and was tough to take given it came in a heavy defeat on home soil.
It must be remembered that Rice’s goal put Arsenal 6-0 up. Had it been a late winner, it would have been interesting to see his reaction.

Quite why anyone would get worked up over the non-celebration is bizarre. Rice did not want to rub it in and full credit to him for that.
At the same time, had he wished to celebrate, that would also be completely fair – he is now an Arsenal player, after all.
While his time at the club may be over, Rice’s contributions to West Ham should not be forgotten.
