West Ham trio Declan Rice, Jarrod Bowen and Vladimir Coufal named in Harry Redknapp Team of the Week

Three West Ham players have been included in Harry Redknapp’s latest Premier League Team of the Week.

The Hammers won 3-2 against Chelsea at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon (4 December) thanks to goals from Manuel Lanzini, Jarrod Bowen and Arthur Masuaku.

Winger Bowen was the only goalscorer to make Redknapp’s XI and he was joined by defender Vladimir Coufal and midfielder Declan Rice.

In his column for BetVictor, the former Hammers manager wrote: “Vladimir Coufal had another impressive display against Chelsea in their terrific 3-2 win at the London Stadium.

“The only blight on his performance was a late booking, but it’s understandable given the context of the match. It was played at 100mph.

“He’s someone that has caught my eye a few times this season, and with another assist to his name, he’s definitely heading in the right direction.

“There won’t be many surprised that I’m going with Declan Rice in midfield. He’s going from strength to strength every week. The sky’s the limit for him if he can keep progressing on that trajectory. He’s exactly the kind of player you need in matches like that, as he’s super fit and can run all day.

“On the right, I’m going with Declan’s teammate, Jarrod Bowen. Again, he had a top performance. I love the way he finds pockets of space and he’s not afraid to get forward and have a pop.

“David Moyes has a few top players at West Ham just now, it’s a very exciting time there and who knows, it could get better.”

Hammers dominate

It is unsurprising that Hammers players make up nearly a third of Redknapp’s team after they once again showed they are capable of competing with the best in the Premier League.

Coufal has comfortably slotted back into defence following Aaron Creswell’s injury and showed an impressive desire to consistently get forward.

Everyone is waxing lyrical about Rice at the moment and rightly so, with the England international now firmly established as one of the best midfielders in the division.

Meanwhile, it was vital for Bowen to get back on the scoresheet after missing a couple of big chances against Brighton last week (1 December).

As Redknapp suggests, these kind of performance are no longer one-offs for West Ham, they are a real sign that they could achieve something special this season.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers should sign this striker who has been made available to loan.
