West Ham ‘confident’ of convincing Jacob Ramsey to sign

As reported by GiveMeSport on Thursday (31 July), Ramsey is one name discussed to bolster West Ham’s midfield options.

It is understood that the Hammers have made a strong pitch to sign the midfielder. However, they could miss out as he is prepared to stay at Aston Villa unless a club challenging for European qualification and silverware approaches.

This has not deterred the Hammers, who have been in contact over a deal and “there has been confidence behind the scenes” of convincing him to sign.

After a disappointing domestic campaign, West Ham’s efforts demonstrate they are certain of doing better next season.

West Ham table formal £6.9million offer for John Victor

According to Fabrizio Romano (1 August), West Ham have made an initial £6.9million bid for John Victor.

West Ham have been keen on the Brazilian keeper, but have now formalised their interest by issuing a bid. Everton and Galatasaray are also said to be interested in securing Victor’s services this summer.

Manchester United, who have seen Andre Onana struggle to get back to his best, have also kept tabs on the 29-year-old in recent months. For under £10m, there is no doubt that Victor could turn out to be the steal of the summer.

West Ham want at least £50m for Lucas Paqueta

According to Ge (31 July), while continuing at West Ham has not been ruled out, the club have indicated that they want between £50-£60m for Paqueta in fixed fees and bonuses.

Manchester City have yet to make an official approach, even though Paqueta remains on their radar. Despite his links with Flamengo, a return to Brazil has been ruled out due to the financial costs involved.

This comes after the charges brought forward by the FA were dropped, with the midfielder walking away with his career intact.
