West Ham transfer developments brandished ‘incredible’ as relegation claim made
West Ham’s way of doing business in January has sparked mass confusion.
Nottingham Forest increased their advantage on West Ham to seven points on Tuesday night, in a game that lacked quality, but certainly not controversy.
With that said, the Hammers are looking increasingly more likely to succumb to relegation after that defeat, with their January business seen as a last resort to avoid that.
West Ham have already signed Taty Castellanos and Pablo to bolster their forward line; two moves that have left Jacob Steinberg baffled.
West Ham business slammed as blindingly obvious priority emerges
West Ham needed to sign a striker – no one is denying that.
However, for the Hammers to have splashed almost £50million on two attackers when they have the worst defensive record in the league is interesting to say the least.
Off the back of their defeat to Forest, the Irons have now conceded 43 goals in the Premier League, which is three more than Wolves, who sit bottom of the division.
Those transfer decisions have baffled Steinberg, who claimed that West Ham will struggle to avoid relegation as a result.
Writing via X, he said: “It’s incredible that West Ham have gambled £50m on two strikers from abroad when they haven’t kept a clean sheet since August.
“You’re not going to stay up if you can’t defend, but they went into must-win games with centre-backs who have failed under four managers.“

Which defenders could the Hammers sign?
Quite frankly, if defensive arrivals don’t arrive soon, West Ham can pack their bags now and prepare for a season in the Championship.
Thankfully, there have been links, but the influence of that will depend on how fast the Hammers act.
Charlie Cresswell has been linked with a move to West Ham, as has Axel Disasi, who has massively fallen out of favour at Chelsea.
While that would sum West Ham’s recruitment up perfectly, that alone should be a good enough reason to swerve their interest in the Frenchman, though the Cresswell links are certainly interesting.
The former Leeds defender has impressed again at Toulouse in Ligue 1, and given his age and profile, it would definitely be a good addition.
