West Ham to sell Winston Reid as Brentford secure promotion

Ex-West Ham Employee has claimed that the club are prepared to part ways with defender Winston Reid this summer as Brentford secured PL promotion.

The New Zealand international spent the last four months on loan with the Bees where he has filled in as an understudy to Pontus Jansson and Ethan Pinnock.

Whenever called upon, the 32-year-old has been a reliable stalwart at the back for Thomas Frank and his signing coincided with Brentford getting their promotion chase back on track.

After failing to get over the line on a number of occasions, Brentford finally achieved that next step when they beat Swansea at Wembley on Saturday.

Reid came off the bench to play the final 11 minutes of the game to give the Bees some defensive assurance as they led by two goals and had a man advantage on the afternoon.

Now that promotion is in the bag, Frank will be looking to strengthen his side, but given the Brentford model, they’re unlikely to go all guns blazing and spend top dollar on new recruits.

The 32-year-old on-loan West Ham defender would certainly come on the cheap and would save up funds for Brentford to spend elsewhere.

Earned his move

Reid was unlikely to break into our first team so it’s great for him that he’s impressed Frank at the Brentford Community Stadium and is likely to get a permanent move sorted out.

While our clash with the Bees could be termed as a London ‘derby’, we’ll be excited to square off against Reid.

West Ham

He’s been with us for over a decade and has been through all the ups and downs we have over the last few years.

He’s been a model individual and has inspired some of the youngsters back when he was a first-choice here.

The towering defender has already given us everything he could’ve offered, so selling him this summer could be a wise decision as we’re looking to bring in a quality centre-back.
