West Ham to make Jesse Lingard offer in final days of the window
Manchester United may need to sell West Ham target Jesse Lingard, if they are to sign a big-name midfielder, claims Fabrizio Romano.
Despite the England international enjoying a decent pre-season for the Manchester outfit, he was left out of the matchday squad for their opener against Leeds United.
West Ham still retain an interest in signing him and have reportedly waited this long to table a formal offer is because they expect his price to drop closer to deadline day.
Speaking on The United Stand, the Sky Sports Italy journalist said, “I would keep an eye on Manchester United’s midfield situation. If Manchester United sell him (Lingard) then they will have an opportunity to do something in the market”
“West Ham will try again for Lingard. My understanding is that they will try in the final days for Jesse Lingard.
“Many clubs wait until the end of the window as they expect prices for players to change and I’m expecting them to go back for him.
“They are still waiting to decide on this position but they are still keen on Jesse Lingard as it’s always been either West Ham or Manchester United for him.”
Capitalise on it
The Manchester outfit have been in the hunt for a defensive midfielder and Romano has stated that he does not see that happening unless the club generates funds from the sale of players.

Lingard is one of the biggest assets they have this summer and with us so keen on signing him, they may be compelled into selling him and using those funds to bring another big name to Old Trafford.
It’s good that we’ve remained persistent in our quest to sign Lingard and we’re hoping to get this one done as soon as possible.
The 28-year-old will not get regular playing time at Old Trafford while he’s going to be one of the first names on David Moyes’ teamsheet.
Interesting few weeks ahead, but we feel that he’s edging closer to a move to the London Stadium, especially after Darren Randolph’s recent Instagram post.
