West Ham-linked Philippe Coutinho left out of matchday squad
FC Barcelona have left attacker Philippe Coutinho out of their La Liga opener against Real Sociedad amid transfer links to West Ham.
According to The Daily Mirror, the Catalan giants have tasked Coutinho’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, to speak to West Ham over a move this summer.
Their financial crisis is well-documented and despite getting Lionel Messi off their wage bill, they’re still looking to offload a few more players.
Great move
Signing Jesse Lingard permanently seems highly unlikely at the moment as he looks set to stay at Old Trafford this season.
Coutinho is not identical to the England international stylistically, but he could do very well in the number 10 position for us.
Said Benrahma started there against Newcastle in Sunday’s 4-2 win but we often saw him drift out to the left flank, leaving a gap in the hole behind the striker.
Coutinho’s arrival would see us get someone technical in that area and he would arrive at the London Stadium with a winning mentality.
He’s lifted a number of trophies in his career, most notably the UEFA Champions League in the 2019/20 season, and hopefully, could help us out of our current trophy drought.
It would also be the kind of marquee signing that would get the fans excited and we cannot wait to see if the board are capable enough to pull this one off.
