Declan Rice fires back at Newcastle fans as West Ham win 4-2

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice reacted angrily to Newcastle fans booing him in the Hammers’ 4-2 win on Sunday.

The London outfit started their campaign on a winning note but a number of their fans may have had their hearts in their mouths when Rice went down in the second half of the game.

However, it was only due to him cramping and after a bit of stretching, he was back in action.

That did not stop Newcastle fans from booing him as they believed he was wasting time.

Football London journalist Tom Clark, who was at the stadium, wrote on his personal Twitter account that Rice told them to “Shut up”.

Ridiculous

Fans booing players because they’re cramping is absolutely ridiculous and we’re delighted that Rice shut them up.

We didn’t need him wasting time as we were in control of proceedings and there was no way that Newcastle were getting back into this contest.

Rice, as many expected, had a decent game and picked up from what he left off from the European Championship, albeit after an error early on.

After having a first half to forget, as he played a role in letting Newcastle open the scoring, he came out stronger in the second half.

He didn’t misplace a single pass in the final third and was also pin-point in terms of long passes.

As the graphic above shows, it wasn’t all sideways passes as he created a couple of chances and was virtually all over the pitch.

We’re hoping to see more of the same from him in the coming weeks.
