West Ham to formally appoint figure spotted alongside Nuno Espirito Santo vs Brentford
Nuno Espirito Santo needs to find a solution quickly after West Ham United lost to Brentford in the Premier League.
London Stadium hosted Keith Andrew’s team on 20 October, with the Hammers dropping three crucial points against a possible relegation rival.
Nuno now has another potential six-pointer against Leeds United on 24 October, and travelling fans will hope the Irons put in a better performance.
With several changes made in the East London outfit’s dugout after sacking Graham Potter, the Portuguese manager has to make it work in E20.

Rui Barbosa set to be West Ham goalkeeping coach
Rui Barbosa will replace Casper Ankergren as the lead goalkeeper coach at the Hammers, according to The Standard.
The news outlet reports on 22 October that the Irons are set to officially confirm the arrival of the Portuguese coach, who was on the bench during the 2-0 defeat to Brentford at the London Stadium.
Nuno is delighted to reunite with Barbosa, with whom he’s worked for 13 years at Nottingham Forest, Al-Ittihad, Tottenham, Wolves, Porto and Rio Ave.
It remains to be seen whether the Portuguese goalkeeping coach’s appointment will lead to better performances in between the sticks from the likes of Alphonse Areola and Mads Hermansen.
Hermansen started poorly at the London Stadium after moving to E20 from Leicester City in the summer, and lost his place in the starting lineup.
Areola hasn’t been any better for the East London club this season, and that has reflected in the team’s overall performance as they sit 19th in the league table.
Nuno to make surprise Lukasz Fabianski call at the London Stadium
Lukasz Fabianski returned to the London Stadium in September after Wes Foderingham departed the Hammers.
West Ham didn’t renew the Poland international’s contract in the summer, and he departed as a free agent, but subsequently made a surprise comeback.
Competition | Appearances | Goals conceded | Clean sheets |
Premier League | 14 | 21 | 3 |
If Hermansen and Areola continue to struggle at the Irons, it would make sense to trust Fabianski for the foreseeable future.
While the confidence in the goalkeeping department is already low, and starting the 40-year-old would arguably make matters worse for the two other goalkeepers, Nuno must be ruthless as the East London outfit stare at the prospect of relegation.
