West Ham to contradict themselves by signing ‘diamond’ in January after Tim Steidten sack

West Ham could be active in the January window and raise questions about why Tim Steidten was let go.

Steidten left West Ham just nine months ago, as his transfer business arguably let the Hammers down ahead of Julen Lopetegui’s spell in charge.

Things didn’t work out for the Spaniard either, as Lopetegui was later sacked by West Ham after just months in charge.

Steidten oversaw West Ham’s summer signings in 2024, but few of those additions have proven successful.

There was little opposition to his departure at the time, but the way the Hammers are moving ahead of the winter could create more questions than it answers.

West Ham linked to Allan signing from Palmerias

West Ham signed Luis Guilherme from Palmerias as part of Steidten’s at the London Stadium.

The young Brazilian came in and was met with plenty of excitement as the Irons faithful thought they had a wonderkid on their hands.

Things simply haven’t worked out for the 19-year-old after making just 16 appearances in claret and blue, while failing to score or assist so far.

Guilherme’s failings are a key part behind the reasons Steidten was sacked in the end, but it looks as if the East London outfit could return to Palmerias in January.

Spanish outlet Diario AS reported on 11 November that West Ham are interested in signing Allan, a 21-year-old midfielder.

The 2004-born ace has been described as a “diamond” for the Serie A side after becoming a key player for Abel Ferreira this campaign.

The Hammers are set to face competition from West Ham, Fulham, and Everton for his signature if they are to replicate Steidten’s work and complete the signing.

Steidten could rightly fume if West Ham sign Allan

The German’s adventures in Brazil have become a point of ridicule among supporters in E20 after the failed signing of Guilherme.

That move played a key role in his eventual loss of job at the London Stadium, and it felt as if the Hammers were right to make that call.

Steidten will be looking at the potential signing of Allan from Palmerias and questioning why he was sacked for conducting very similar business.

He is likely to be annoyed if this deal goes through, with West Ham fans also likely to have reservations based solely on what has happened before.
