West Ham target Youri Tielemans left out of Leicester pre-season clash
West Ham target Youri Tielemans has been left out of Leicester’s first pre-season game, but could this be a sign for the Hammers?
The Hammers have been linked to the Belgium midfielder in recent weeks and his omission from the Foxes’ pre-season opener has added fuel to the fire of these transfer rumours.
The London club have been looking for midfield reinforcements with a move for former Hammer Jesse Lingard yet to be completed, but Tielemans is another option that David Moyes has considered. [HITC]
Potential move on the cards?
If the Hammers could pull off this move under noses of opposition clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United who are also pondering a move for Tielemans, it would be a sensational deal for the club and a real show of intent from the board.
Tielemans has been one of the most sought-after midfielders of this transfer window and would serious quality to West Ham’s midfield.
He is tidy in possession, has an eye for a pass and has a great engine, as well as having an abundance of Premier League and international experience.
The former Anderlecht and Monaco midfielder has made an astounding 408 career club appearances, with 158 of those being for Leicester.
He has also made 52 appearances for his country, and is now a mainstay in Belgium’s first team becoming one of their most reliable performances in recent years.
Since moving to the Midlands club in 2019, he has established himself as one of the league’s best midfielders, and with transfer rumours surrounding current midfielders Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek, a Tielemans swoop would be an amazing signing for the Hammers.
