West Ham target Bartlomiej Dragowski seen as heir to Lukasz Fabianski

West Ham are heavily interested in signing Bartlomiej Dragowski from Fiorentina, according to Calciomercato.

The goalkeeper is seen as a long-term replacement for veteran shot-stopper Lukasz Fabianski.

Last week Corriere Fiorentino (22 April, page 11) reported that the 24-year-old is ready to leave the club and he has already bid farewell to his teammates.

It was claimed that the Hammers are likely to face competition from Southampton, Bournemouth and Tottenham.

No need

The Polish international has a contract at the club till June 2023, and he is in no mood to stay beyond the end of the season.

The goalkeeper picked up a hamstring in October and missed a chunk of games this season.

Consequently, he has now dropped down the pecking order at the club, and he is no longer their first-choice keeper.

Fiorentina could be open to receiving offers for him in the summer and that leaves an opportunity for David Moyes to snap him up.

However, the pertinent question remains the Hammers to sign another goalkeeper?

Fabianski is set to continue at the club and he will be offered a new deal. Right now, there’s no need to find a replacement for him.

Similarly, if the London outfit can manage another loan deal for Alphonso Areola in the summer, they probably won’t require another goalkeeper.

The money could be used elsewhere. Having said that given his age and contract, he could be available on a bargain deal.

In other West Ham news, Declan Rice has turned down his third new contract at club and Manchester United respond.
