West Ham in pole position to seal Tammy Abraham transfer after agent developments

Tammy Abraham could finally end the striker nightmare at West Ham United this summer.

Abraham is currently on loan at AC Milan from Roma, but his time at the San Siro has not gone to plan so far, scoring just eight goals in 34 appearances across all competitions.

Milan are enduring a difficult season in Serie A, sitting ninth, while the West Ham transfer target has scored just two goals in 21 league appearances for Sergio Conceicao’s side.

However, Abraham did make himself a Milan hero last month, when he bagged a 93rd minute winner in January’s 3-2 Super Cup final win over bitter rivals Inter, which will be remembered for years.

West Ham are already in talks with Abraham

According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, West Ham are already in conversation with Abraham’s entourage and sitting in pole position to get a transfer over the line.

There is fellow interest in the former Chelsea man from Premier League rivals such as Wolves and Everton, but the Hammers appear to be leading the way in the transfer race.

Abraham currently favours a permanent move to Milan, but it is said that he’s destined for a return to England and the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Roma have already paved the way for his exit, having signed fellow striker Artem Dovbyk from Girona last summer.

Signing Abraham could be top business for West Ham

After taking the reins in January, new West Ham boss Graham Potter completed the loan signing of Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, who he worked with during his time in the Seagulls dugout.

But it is during the summer transfer window that Potter will be handed a key opportunity to shape his own Hammers squad, and Abraham’s services would be a great addition.

The England international has struggled for form during the last couple of seasons, but he scored 27 goals during the 2021/22 season for Roma, which demonstrates the lofty heights he is capable of hitting in the final third.

Furthermore, Chelsea academy graduate Abraham knows the Premier League very well and enjoyed a largely successful spell during his time as a senior player at Stamford Bridge, helping the Blues clinch the 2021 Champions League title.

Potter’s work during the summer transfer window may be hindered by the prospect of a potential lifetime ban for playmaker Lucas Paqueta, but the addition of Abraham could prove to be a fruitful one.
