West Ham supporting Ian Abrahams winds up Tottenham hero Graham Roberts with Avram Grant dig
TalkSPORT journalist Ian Abrahams couldn’t resist taking a dig at Tottenham’s current plight with a tongue-in-cheek comment about former West Ham manager Avram Grant.
Spurs are still searching for Jose Mourinho’s successor, nearly two months since he was sacked as their manager on April 19.
The north London club thought they had finally nailed down his replacement in the form of Paulo Fonseca, but talks collapsed yesterday [Thursday, June 17] and fans and former players have been up in arms at the indecision from the board.

Former Spurs defender Graham Roberts, who made over 200 appearances for the club and helped them to win consecutive FA Cups in the 1980s, was one such disgruntled party to air his views on Twitter.
TalkSPORT journalist Abrahams, who is a lifelong West Ham supporter, chimed in on an online conversation, tweeting: “Avram Grant is still available.”
Roberts hit back on his personal Twitter profile, writing: “Bloody hell West Ham finish above us for the first time in 30 odd years and you’re milking it, well done.”
Rattled
Who would have thought a few years ago we would be in the position to mock Spurs and their managerial situation?
We’ve endured a coaching crisis of our own over the years, and stability has not been a word associated with the Irons.
Our London rivals, meanwhile, had Mauricio Pochettino at the helm for five years between 2014-19, reaching a Champions League final in his final year in charge.
We sacked Manuel Pellegrini in 2019 and re-hired David Moyes much to the disdain of our supporters, before just scraping survival towards the end of the season.
But we’re at a totally different stage right now after qualifying for the Europa League ahead of Spurs, and Moyes has been hailed as one of the manager’s of the season.
Spurs, on the other hand, are still scrambling for a new manager as their search descends into a farce.
Perhaps GSB should do them a favour and give them Grant’s phone number, they might be around the same level now.
