West Ham Super Fans want Issa Diop sold amid AC Milan links
This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Ham Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around the London Stadium. You can join in the discussion on our West Ham Zone Facebook page.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, AC Milan have asked West Ham about the possibility of signing Issa Diop in the January window.
The French centre-back, 24, has been a fixture in David Moyes’ starting XI since Kurt Zouma joined Angelo Ogbonna on the injury sidelines, but he remains fourth-choice and could slip down the pecking order if another defender is brought in next month as expected.
It remains to be seen whether the Hammers will be open to doing business with Milan given their current situation at the back, and things will get clearer in the coming weeks.
We asked our esteemed panel of West Ham Super Fans over on Facebook whether they would sell Diop and bring someone else in, and while some said no, most of them want him gone.
Here is how they reacted.
Diop has not impressed on a consistent level after his first two seasons at the London Stadium when he made 65 Premier League appearances across both campaigns.
He was tipped to go on and become a France international and was linked with some of the bigwigs in the land as a result of the huge potential he displayed, but he has suffered a dip in form since the start of the 2020-21 campaign, and that was why Moyes ended up signing Craig Dawson and Zouma.
The West Ham man has been brilliant at times during the 13 games he has featured in across all competitions this season, but he has mostly been average or underwhelming.
With just two senior options available to Moyes, the Irons are likely to bring in one or two centre-backs in January as they need depth in the position going forward.
They are not likely to entertain offers from Milan for Diop, but could a sizeable offer force their hands?
The centre-back needs to prove himself very soon at the London Stadium if he wants to continue playing for the Hammers going forward.
