Manchester United defender Phil Jones ‘will surely appeal’ to David Moyes and West Ham, claims ExWHUEmployee.

The Hammers have been linked with a number of defenders this summer as it is one of the positions they plan to address ahead of next season.

According to 90Min, the London side have shown an interest in signing Jones as Man United are looking to part ways with the England international this summer.

West Ham

Discussing this story on his Patreon page for The West Ham Way Podcast, ExWHUEmployee said, “This is a move that will surely appeal to David Moyes.

“He is a big fan of the England international from his time managing Manchester United and has made precious enquiries to the player’s availability before, whilst managing us.

“A major concern is his injury record and he hasn’t really featured for nearly two years now so this could be a factor that puts Moyes off. We shall see if Moyes reignites his interest in the coming weeks.”

West Ham fans, as one would expect did not take the news too well and made their feelings heard on Facebook.

Here’s what they said:

Can do better

Moyes may have history of working with the Englishman, but Jones is clearly not the calibre of player to take our team to the next level.

What we need is a solid presence at the back, a leader and someone who can carry the ball out of defence.

Jones, who may be good with the ball at his feet, certainly isn’t the best in terms of his composure and aerial prowess and his shambolic fitness record makes him one player we should be avoiding this summer.
