West Ham summer move for Jonathan Bamba unlikely

Lille forward Jonathan Bamba is set to remain in France despite links with West Ham United, according to The Guardian journalist Adam White.

Hammers insider ExWHUemployee reported today on Patreon that the 25-year-old Frenchman could join the club in a last-gasp deal ahead of the deadline.

However, only a late bid will get a deal done, and White claims none is yet to arrive despite the winger playing like someone who wants out of Lille.

The GFFN journalist told The Transfer Tavern: “As far as we understand at GFFN, Jonathan Bamba is expected to remain at Lille unless a late bid, that hasn’t materialised yet, arrives for the player.

“His career with Lille has been very up and down so far. Before Christmas last season he was perhaps the most important player for a team that eventually won the title, playing with a swagger and intensity as well as an end product that has often been lacking.

“However, since Christmas, his form has tailed off to the point where he wasn’t even a guaranteed starter at the end of the season before falling off a cliff this season. He’s been playing like a player who wants to leave.”

Move off?

ExWHUemployee does not provide any information unless it comes from a trusted source, and the links with Bamba surely have legs.

However, having already made two major outfield additions, the Irons are now looking at loan deals.

Lille are open to selling the forward instead, and it appears a deal would not be possible if David Moyes’ side do not come to the table with a significant bid.

The Hammers boss wants to strengthen his attack, and while he is not primarily a striker, the Ligue 1 ace has everything it takes to lead the line.

Bamba won the title with Lille last term, scoring six goals and assisting 11 others in 38 games.

West Ham need someone capable of providing cover for Michail Antonio, and it appears that Moyes is keen on a move for the Frenchman.

However, a lack of funds is threatening to see a move fall through, and the club have to come up with a solution before 11 pm to get a deal done.

In other West Ham news, international ace is unlikely to complete Hammers move due to family reasons.
