West Ham slap mega £150million price tag on Declan Rice’s head

David Moyes has shared that West Ham ace Declan Rice is not for sale as clubs circle for a summer move for the England international.

The Hammers look to replicate Tottenham’s no-nonsense approach to the sale of Harry Kane by slapping a whopping price of over £150million for the midfielder.

Moyes hopes the Irons having the 23-year-old tied down to a long-term deal at the London Stadium will be enough to keep him.

“The first thing to say is that he is not for sale,’ he said, as per the Daily Mail.

“If you are interested, well, it will be north of that. One hundred was cheap last summer. One hundred and fifty just now would be minimum but he is not for sale. What I do know is that it means there are only certain clubs that could even consider it.”

Referring to Spurs’ hard stance on the sale of Harry Kane in the summer, Moyes added: “They said, ‘No, there is a price and if someone wants to pay the price, then we would probably do it. If they don’t then he’s not going anywhere’.

“That’s it. They have kept him. We have got Declan on the best part of a three-and-a-half-year contract. Just like Tottenham have got Kane on a contract. They control what happens.”

Priceless

Rice isn’t worth £150million to West Ham, he is priceless. If he builds a legacy at the club and reaches his full potential, the impact could be worth ten times that amount.

Take Steven Gerrard at Liverpool for example. For a lot of his time at the club, the Reds were a very average side and he dragged them up to the level they needed to be at.

The expectation is very different in east London, but Rice could have a similar impact by attracting over players and driving the team forward year upon year to improve.

If he and several of the other key players in this squad commit their futures to the Irons, it blows the door wide open for more high-quality players to come and join.

That is probably the most important thing for West Ham over the next couple of transfer windows – keep all of their star men in order to build on their success.
