West Ham shut down links with Nayef Aguerd
West Ham United have shut down rumours linking them with a move for Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd.
Football Insider has reported this week that the Moroccan international will cost up to £16million this summer.
David Moyes is said to want a defender who can play in the middle, but also at left-back ahead of the new Premier League season.
Claret and Hugh have shared a major update on the reported pursuit.
Writing on their website this morning, a Hammers source has labelled the link as “total tosh.”
Despite other outlets also supporting the interest, a close club insider has shared that Aguerd isn’t a name on the shortlist.
Moyes is said to have prepared a list of names to target across the summer, so there will hopefully be more clarity on that soon.

West Ham are crying out for more options in defence ahead of the new season in the Premier League and the Europa League.
Fabian Balbuena has moved on, and Winston Reid is likely to do the same as the summer progresses at the London Stadium.
Aguerd and his reported £16million price tag would fit the bill perfectly, but it looks as though there are other names on the list.
It looks as though a new defender will be arriving this summer, one way or another, but it won’t be Aguerd.
Moyes will need much better squad depth this time around, with a couple of injuries all it will take to derail this progress we have made over the past year.
