West Ham should be proud as Europa League pay them compliment

West Ham host Genk on Thursday night in their third Europa League group game of the season, and there could be fireworks, literally.

The Hammers lit up the London Stadium when they hosted Rapid Wien prior to the international break, and the Europa League official Twitter account was clearly blown away.

Ahead of tonight’s clash, the account has posted a clip of the fireworks on display before West Ham took on the Austrian side, and they are clearly still in awe.

They wrote: “European nights at London Stadium.

“West Ham’s impressive light show.”

West Ham want to create an atmosphere befitting of European football, and they definitely did a great job last time out.

They will be looking even to do better ahead of their clash with the Belgians, which should put the fans in a great mood before kick-off.

Another victory will get the Hammers closer to the knockout stages, and playing on the continent after Christmas will be great.

Genk boast of some top players, and David Moyes’ men have to be on top of their game to pick up victory.

Some slight changes are expected in the starting XI as some of the fringe players will be getting the chance to prove what they can do.

Finishing the group campaign as leaders will do the Irons a lot of good as it could see them get a favourable draw in the last-32.

Anything can happen if they get as far as the last-16 and quarterfinals, and some of the players will be dreaming of winning the Europa League.

In other West Ham news, Jack Wilshere has predicted a major Hammers exit, but reckons one goal would stop it.
