West Ham set to battle PL rivals for £14million Eden Hazard-esque star

Hull City have set their price for academy product Keane Lewis-Potter who has been gaining interest from a host of Premier League clubs, including West Ham.

According to the Hull Daily Mail, the new Tigers owner, Acun Ilicali, is reluctant to see the 20-year-old remain at the MKM Stadium but they could be tempted into business if a club reaches their £14million asking price.

The Hammers’ London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also thought to be interested in Lewis-Potter and have been rumoured to be readying a bid for his services.

West Ham

Fellow Premier League side Brentford saw an £8million bid rejected by the club’s previous owners but they no longer yearn for finances under their new ownership.

Needs more time

The Hull City star has been influential to the Tigers’ bid for survival upon their return to the Championship having bagged five goals and three assists so far this season.

While those numbers have helped no end in keeping the relegation zone at arm’s length, it isn’t exactly screaming for Premier League sides to give him a chance.

West Ham

But he has potential coming out of his ears and he will surely play in the top division soon enough, so there is no big rush for him to leave Humberside.

Hull youth coach Craig Fagan rates the 20-year-old very highly among those who have come through the youth ranks at the club.

“He’s similar to how Eden Hazard plays, with that low centre of gravity, coming inside and shooting,” Fagan said in The Athletic, “He’s not as good as Hazard by any stretch of the imagination at this point but he’s got the skills and abilities to be striving towards that.”

If West Ham really want Lewis-Potter, then by all means spend whatever it is you need to get him but you can’t see him ousting Said Benrahma or Jarrod Bowen in David Moyes’ starting XI.

Maybe it would be best to loan him back to the MKM Stadium for the remainder of the season where he can hopefully keep the Tigers in the second tier for another year.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have tabled a £21million bid for this lethal striker.
