West Ham scouts keep tabs on Bologna midfielder Jerdy Schouten

West Ham scouts are reportedly keeping tabs on 25-year-old Bologna midfielder Jerdy Schouten.

According to the Daily Mail, the club are looking at him as one of the potential options to replace Mark Noble next season.

The Hammers veteran will be calling it a day at the end of the season and it will be imperative to find a replacement for him.

Good enough?

Central midfield has been an area in the squad that’s been extremely weak this season.

Despite Conor Coventry impressing in pre season, he was loaned out – which left them with four recognised central midfielders.

Alex Kral has failed to impress and will not be retained by the club while Noble, due to his age, has featured sparingly.

This summer, the Hammers need to sign at least two new midfielders and if they feel that Schouten is the right fit, then they should pursue his services.

The Dutchman has impressed the scouts a great deal and the fact that he’s at Bologna means that he will not cost too much either.

The Hammers can offer him European football, higher wages and the chance to play in the best league in the world.

It’s a no brainer that if they go in for him, he will be on his way to the London Stadium.
