West Ham scouts wowed as Jonathan Rowe transfer news emerges at London Stadium

Norwich City attacker Jonathan Rowe is said to have impressed West Ham United scouts amid January interest, according to The Mirror.

Ryan Taylor reported [18 January] that West Ham scouts have liked what they have seen from the Norwich forward, who has netted 11 Championship goals this season.

The 20-year-old is extremely versatile, with the Hammers now quietly optimistic about bringing in a new attacker before the deadline strikes on February 1.

Fluidity is key

Rowe has certainly earned his plaudits this season, becoming the Canaries’ top goalscorer with 12 goals in all competitions, with Adam Idah the closest behind with seven.

The young forward graduated from the Norwich academy in 2021 and has since made 47 appearances, but it took until this season to score his first senior goal for the club. His form is hardly surprising looking at his Under 23s stats, though.

With his ability to play on the left and right flank, as well as in the middle of the park, he is exactly the right profile to match Moyes’ current attackers. Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus are all capable of switching into each other’s positions throughout a match, making it much harder to defend against West Ham.

It seems that Rowe could be the perfect addition at London Stadium, especially with Paqueta and Michail Antonio’s long-term injuries. Although his lack of experience may be a slight deterrent, the England U21 international seems to be worth the risk.

And West Ham’s injury woes add a need to sign at least one attacker this January before the transfer window closes.

In other West Ham news, the club are eyeing a move for a player on £200,000 a week.
