West Ham: Roshane Thomas reacts to George Earthy injury news v Fulham

Roshane Thomas has reacted on social media as teenage West Ham midfielder George Earthy needed extensive treatment for an injury against Fulham on Sunday (14 April).

David Moyes brought the 19-year-old on for his Premier League debut in place of Michail Antonio with eight minutes of normal time remaining in the 2-0 defeat at London Stadium.

However, following a collision with team-mate Edson Alvarez, a stretcher was needed to take the youngster off the pitch, with Maxwel Cornet replacing him in the first minute of stoppage time.

And Thomas took to X to react to the incident and praise the medical teams at West Ham and Fulham, writing: “George Earthy is receiving treatment.

“The players immediately called for help. Credit to West Ham and Fulham’s medical team for being so quick.

“Wish Earthy a speedy recovery.”

West Ham youngster George Earthy has Premier League debut spoiled

It should have been a special occasion for Earthy as he made his Premier League debut for West Ham – but it was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Despite the scoreline – which was and remained 2-0 to Fulham, following two goals from Andreas Pereira – Earthy would surely have cherished the memories of his first top-flight outing.

The teenager was greeted warmly by the home supporters and showed bright flashes of his talent in his brief time on the pitch, but that was brought to an abrupt end when he collided with Alvarez and appeared to suffer a head injury, requiring extensive treatment before leaving the pitch on a vehicle.

Moyes and Hammers supporters alike will have been extremely disappointed to see the talented teenager stretchered off. Beyond the obvious hope that he is able to make a full recovery, his energetic cameo suggested he could have earned more minutes as the season draws to a close – particularly with the Hammers so short on attacking options following the departures of Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals.

When he returns, he will hope to pick right back up where he left off.

In other West Ham news, Mohammed Kudus has recommended the Hammers sign “one of the best” players he’s ever played with.
