West Ham rescue 50:50 deal to hire Tim Steidten as David Moyes gives blessing for appointment
West Ham United are on the verge of securing Tim Steidten as their new technical director, according to The Guardian.
The publication noted that there had been doubts over the appointment of the German, but that the Hammers are now closing in on the move.
The Guardian added that Steidten has met West Ham boss David Moyes on at least two occasions, and has made a positive impression after talks with the club.

“West Ham are to push ahead with the appointment of Tim Steidten as their new technical director,” according to The Guardian. “The German emerged as the leading candidate last week only for doubts to emerge over whether his arrival would be finalised.
“Insiders had insisted it had a 50% chance of going through last Friday. However it is understood that the deal is on the verge of being agreed, handing West Ham a boost as they gear up for a busy summer in the transfer window.
“Steidten, who left Bayer Leverkusen in March, has made a positive impression during several rounds of talks and has met West Ham’s manager, David Moyes, on at least two occasions.

Necessary appointment
West Ham definitely need a figure at the club who is capable of overseeing their transfers, with far too many failed moves happening at the East London outfit over the years.
Such failings are typified by last summer’s moves, with big-money striker Gianluca Scamacca dramatically failing to hit the heights expected of him in claret and blue.
Fortunately for the Hammers, the likes of Nayef Aguerd and Lucas Paqueta look to be top signings and top players for the future, even if it did take them some time to settle into life at the London Stadium.
Club legend Mark Noble looks set to remain as sporting director, but he will definitely be assisted by an experienced head such as Steidten, who left Bayer Leverkusen in March.
The German will have a long to-do list if he does make the switch to East London, and sitting top of the pile will no doubt be finding an ideal replacement for club captain and star midfielder Declan Rice.
