West Ham relegation chances shift in supercomputer prediction after Man United draw

West Ham took another minor step towards safety at the London Stadium.

West Ham secured a point in a 1-1 draw with Man United, though it was so close to being another momentous victory for the Hammers.

Tomas Soucek, in the absence of Felipe, scored the opening goal after 50 minutes, and it looked as though the Irons would go on to see all three points out, given the lack of immediate threat posed by the visitors.

However, a 96th-minute dagger from Benjamin Sesko saw the Red Devils equalise, with West Ham’s relegation chances shifting as a result.

Where are West Ham predicted to finish?

Before the middle of January, West Ham looked almost nailed on for relegation, having gone 10 games without a win, before they secured one away to Tottenham.

And since then, the Irons have picked up a remarkable 10 points from a possible 15 that have been up for grabs.

While it could change when Nottingham Forest play on Wednesday night, it means that they are now just two points from safety, but still among the favourites for relegation.

Via Opta, the Hammers are forecasted to finish on 36 points, with a 74.81 per cent chance of dropping into the Championship.

However, that is a slight improvement from recent weeks, when they had been handed an 82 per cent chance of relegation.

West Ham revival could spell disaster for Tottenham

Tottenham came close to relegation last season under Ange Postecoglou, and had it not been for a complete lack of fight from the bottom three, that could have easily happened.

And they are looking no safer this time round, with a five-point gap on the Hammers.

With Sunderland up in 11th, and Leeds having lost the second-fewest number of games since December, it’s looking almost nailed on that one of the Premier League’s status quo is going to suffer the drop.

If West Ham can keep building on this recent resurgence, there is every chance that it could be Tottenham, who are now winless in their last eight under Thomas Frank.

If you were to ask any Leeds fan if they think they are safe with 30 points, they would say no, and yet they find themselves one point above Spurs with 12 games to go.
