West Ham receive massive Angelo Ogbonna injury boost

West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna could be back in action for the final few games, according to Claret and Hugh.

The centre-back picked up a cruciate ligament injury against Liverpool and needed knee surgery.

It was thought that he would miss the rest of the campaign, but the centre-back has defied all odds to resume light training in the gym this week.

The report claims that he has a chance of making it back into the team for the final two to three games.

Ogbonna started the season brightly and he was playing really well.

Former England player Darren Gough hailed him [November 2021 on TalkSport] as an “outstanding” player, and he was badly missed this season.

The Hammers will offer him a one-year contract at the club, and his timely return will come as a huge boost for the club.

He is on the wrong side of his 30s, and there are no guarantees that he will be the same player after returning from injuries.

Virgil van Dijk, for example, missed the entire campaign and Liverpool were very cautious with his fitness. It has taken time for him to regain his full sharpness.

Likewise, David Moyes shouldn’t rush to bring him to the side even if he is fully fit.

Having said that, the Hammers still should look to sign another centre-back in the summer. They must plan for long term replacements of both Ogbonna and Craig Dawson.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have scouted a £20m-rated ‘Dangerous’ British striker and want to seal a permanent move this summer.
