West Ham ready to offer deal to Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette

West Ham United are preparing to offer a deal to Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer with the Frenchman out of contract, according to TEAMtalk.

The 30-year-old, who will turn 31 before the end of the Premier League season, is holding out to be offered a long-term deal at the Emirates but Mikel Arteta seems unwilling to give him what he wants despite his eagerness to keep him at the club.

This stalemate has awakened the Hammers who are preparing to make moves in their bid for a striker in the summer.

TEAMtalk believes that the Irons are looking to offer Lacazette a multi-year deal which will put them in pole position to bring him to the London Stadium.

He hasn’t been scoring the goals many expected of him this season but still has 11 goal contributions with seven assists and four goals of his own to his name for the Gunners.

Lacazette or Antonio

One would assume that David Moyes will want to play a similar formation to what he has deployed for the past 18 months or so again next season.

That is a system with just one striker which will leave whoever comes in as a number nine a tough assignment to unseat Michail Antonio as the club’s main man up top.

Thankfully for Moyes, he might not have to choose one of the other if Lacazette does arrive at the London Stadium as both players have useful versatility to play multiple roles in his formation.

We already know that the Jamaican can play out wide if needed and if things get desperate he can do a job at right-back too although let’s hope that never happens again.

Lacazette meanwhile can also do a job out wide but also as the number 10, behind the leading striker where his creativity can help to prize open those stubborn defences.
