West Ham progressing in negotiations for Nikola Milenkovic

West Ham have progressed in their discussions to sign Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Sky Sports Italy journalist stated that the Serie A outfit are already lining up a replacement for the exit-bound centre-back and having identified former Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic as an option.

Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma is also not being considered by the Hammers, as things stand.

Via his personal Twitter account, Romano wrote, “West Ham are progressing in negotiations with Fiorentina to sign Nikola Milenkovic as centre-back. Details still to be discussed to reach an agreement but talks ongoing.

“Fiorentina are closing on Matija Nastasić as replacement. No Zouma for West Ham, as of now.”

Great news

The fact that Fiorentina are already close to signing a replacement suggests that they’re expecting Milenkovic to leave, and more so he’s seeming open to a move himself.

West Ham

There’s excitement whenever we sign a new player, but Milenkovic’s acquisition would be a coup if we manage to bring him to the London Stadium.

The 23-year-old is a towering defender who will be an aerial threat for us in both boxes and with time is only set to mature into one of the league’s best defenders.

Players tend to adapt to new leagues when they’re in the early days of his career and the Serbian, who has time on his side, is expected to hit the ground running and strengthen our playing eleven.

He’s also a decent ball player and will help us build from the back. We’re excited at the prospect of bringing him to the club and hopefully, we can reach an agreement for the player very soon.
