West Ham preparing move for Ukraine striker Roman Yaremchuk

EuroSport are reporting that West Ham are “seriously considering an approach” for Gent striker Roman Yaremchuk in this summer transfer window.

The Ukrainian forward scored two goals and provided one assist during the Euros as his country reached the quarter-finals, and now it looks as if the Hammers are preparing an offer for him. The report also claims that the 25-year-old Gent striker made a ‘big impact’ during the tournament, and West Ham could be about to make a firm offer.

Yaremchuk has also been linked with moves to Sevilla and Bayer Leverkusen, so the Hammers might have to move quickly to seal his signature [Daily Express].

A worthwhile signing?

In 28 league appearances for Gent during the 2020/21 campaign, Yaremchuk scored 17 goals, which, if compared with the West Ham squad, would have made him the top scorer [WhoScored].

Of course, the Belgian league is not as good as the Premier League, so that has to be considered when looking at Yaremchuk’s statistics.

Despite this, he still had a strong Euros, and Daniel Sturridge described the Ukrainian as a ‘problem’ and ‘very tidy’ on his own Twitter account.

Gent are also said to be willing to accept an offer of 15m Euros [£12.85m] for Yaremchuk [RTBF].

West Ham

West Ham are competing on multiple fronts this season, including the Europa League. As it stands, they only have one striker in Michail Antonio, so bringing in someone like Yaremchuk makes perfect sense.

David Moyes could use the 25-year-old as a rotation option, or he could come in and become the first-choice striker depending on how he performs or how Antonio performs.

Either way, this looks like it could be a good deal for the Hammers to try and complete, and it seems as if they are considering making a move.
