West Ham players instantly react to Graham Potter sack at Rush Green
Graham Potter has been sacked as West Ham manager.
It has been a dreadful start to the season for West Ham, though, after such a poor end to the last campaign, it’s hard to say that no one saw it coming.
The Irons lacked identity under Potter, who has since been relieved of his duties at the London Stadium as a result of their dismal start.
West Ham’s search for a new manager will start immediately, with the reaction of the Hammers’ squad already shared.
West Ham squad shocked by Graham Potter sacking
From the outside looking in, quite frankly, no one will be surprised at the fact that Potter has been relieved of his duties at West Ham, though many may question why it took this long.
After five games, the Hammers sit second bottom of the Premier League, with four defeats already to their name.
While the players will need to take a hard look at themselves for their performances over the last few months, most of the blame lies with Potter, who has failed to establish any real identity at the London Stadium, despite having plenty of time to do so.
However, while fans will have seen it coming, Roshane Thomas has reported via X that many of the West Ham players have been shocked by the timing of the decision.
West Ham are due to play Everton away from home on Monday night, with it currently unclear who will be leading the Irons out at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
West Ham have already wasted a season with Graham Potter
There are 33 games left of the Premier League campaign, and to say this season is already a write-off may seem extreme.
However, for a new manager to come in now, implement his style of play and get the results heading in the right direction in such a short space of time is going to be near impossible.
This decision should have been made at the start of the summer, when everyone knew that things weren’t going to get any better.
Now, the Irons face the task of getting the fans back on side after making such a big call at a very bizarre stage.
