West Ham not advanced in deal to sign Reims forward Hugo Ekitike - Fabrizio Romano

West Ham United are not at an advanced stage to sign Reims wonderkid Hugo Ekitike, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Sky Sports journalist has reported that any deal is going to be complicated, with moneybags Newcastle also in the race.

Romano suggests that Reims want a sell-on clause included in any deal, with no offers yet accepted from any parties in the race.

Writing on his personal Twitter account this morning, Romano shared the latest regarding the French wonderkid.

“Reims are not intentioned to accept Newcastle opening proposal for talented striker Hugo Ekitike. Deal more than complicated,” he wrote.

“There’s interest also from West Ham but nothing advanced yet. Reims want also a sell-on clause included into potential Ekitike deal.

Now this is the type of deal that would get everyone excited.

Eikitke is said to be worth around £30million by Reims, who are now expecting an offer from Newcastle after positive talks in recent days [Sky Sports].

Described as the next Kylian Mbappe this week, the young striker is certainly pulling up trees across the channel.

In 866 minutes for Reims in Ligue 1 this season, the 19-year-old has fired in eight goals and added two assists – averaging a goal involvement every 86 minutes [WhoScored].

The Irons and Daniel Kretinsky will need to move quick if they want their man, though, with Newcastle sniffing around.

It’s down to Ekitike, what does he want more? Money or the chance to play European football regularly in London – time will tell.
